The Scindapsus pictus 'Exotica' is the bold, maximalist version of the beloved Satin Pothos — and once you see it, the standard Argyreus feels almost understated by comparison. Where the classic Argyreus has defined silver spots and edge markings, the Exotica goes all in: broad, sweeping washes of silver cover much of each leaf surface in an irregular, painterly pattern that shimmers and shifts in different lighting. Hold a leaf up to the light and the silver takes on a genuine satin sheen — luminous, almost iridescent, and completely captivating.
Native to Thailand and the Philippines, Scindapsus pictus is a member of the Araceae family — a close relative of Pothos (Epipremnum) but a distinct genus with its own character. The heart-shaped leaves curve gently to one side at the tip, giving each one a slightly asymmetrical, organic quality. It's a slower grower than Pothos, which means each new leaf feels like an event — and the leaves it produces are worth the wait. Given time and a climbing support, it develops into a lush, trailing or climbing vine that can reach several feet in length with increasingly large, silver-washed leaves.
🌿 Fun Facts
The silver shimmer on Scindapsus leaves is caused by air pockets just beneath the leaf surface that reflect light — the same phenomenon as the Silver Streak Pothos, but on the Exotica the coverage is so extensive it creates a near-metallic effect across the whole leaf.
Despite being commonly called Silver Pothos or Satin Pothos, Scindapsus pictus is not actually a Pothos at all — it belongs to a separate genus and is more closely related to Epipremnum than to true Pothos (Pothos genus), which is a different plant entirely.
The curling leaf tip that's characteristic of Scindapsus pictus is a natural growth trait — each leaf curves slightly to one side as it matures, giving the plant a distinctive, flowing quality that's unique to the species.
💡 Pro Tips
Light: Bright indirect light produces the most vivid, high-contrast silver coverage. It handles lower light well but the silver may become less pronounced in dim conditions.
Water: Allow the top 2–3 inches of soil to dry out before watering. Curling leaves are a reliable sign it's thirsty. Use a well-draining, airy mix with perlite and orchid bark.
Humidity: Prefers humidity above 50% but adapts well to average household levels. Higher humidity encourages larger, more lush leaves.
Climbing: Give it a moss pole or trellis to encourage larger leaves and more dramatic silver coverage as it climbs.
Fertilizer: Feed monthly during spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength.
Perfect for: Collectors, hanging baskets, moss poles, and anyone looking for a show-stopping silver-variegated vining houseplant with genuine satin shimmer and easy care.

Alocasia Variegated Frydek Brandie Perry
The plant did not arrive in great shape. However, it was an alocasia and I did not add insulation so this is not on the seller (and we all know alocasia does not travel well anddddd they come back)
From start to finish the transaction was amazing. They gave me a discount for my next order even though I didn't ask for one because I knew the risks, and they continued to answer my questions and help me! Will def order again from them and would encourage others to as well!
