Botanical Name: Phylum Streptophyta
Common Name(s): Scindapsus 'Coriaceus'
Description: Scindapsus coriaceus is a climbing plant that's native to Borneo and grows in wet tropical areas. Its leaves are attached to long tendrils that can climb or hang, making it a versatile plant
Scindapsus coriaceus is a rare, hardy, trailing or climbing houseplant characterized by thick, dark green, leathery leaves with minor silvery patches. Thriving in bright, indirect light and well-draining, airy soil, it should be watered only when the top 1–2 inches of soil are dry to prevent root rot
- Light: Prefers bright, indirect light to maintain its color but can tolerate lower light levels. Avoid direct sunlight to prevent leaf scorch.
- Watering: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings; it is drought-tolerant, so avoid waterlogged soil.
- Soil: Use a well-draining aroid mix, such as a combination of potting soil, orchid bark, and perlite.
- Humidity/Temperature: Thrives in moderate to high humidity and temperatures between 65F-86F (18C-27)
- Growth Pattern: This is a climber, so it benefits from a moss pole or wooden plank to develop larger leaves, but it also functions well as a hanging plant.
- Fertilization: Apply a mild liquid fertilizer every 6–8 weeks during the growing season
