The Silver Splash Pothos (Scindapsus pictus) is the Satin Pothos in its most playful, speckled form — heart-shaped, velvety leaves dotted and splashed with silver markings that catch light with a soft, satin shimmer. The silver appears in irregular spots, streaks, and edge markings that vary from leaf to leaf, giving the plant a lively, hand-painted quality that makes it endlessly interesting to look at up close. The leaves have a matte, almost suede-like texture that's distinctly different from the glossy finish of true Pothos — softer, more tactile, and genuinely beautiful.
Native to Thailand and the Philippines, Scindapsus pictus is a member of the Araceae family and a close relative of Epipremnum (Pothos) — though it's a distinct genus with its own character and growth habit. It's a slower, more deliberate grower than Golden Pothos, which means each new leaf feels like a reward. The vining habit is graceful and flexible — equally stunning trailing from a hanging basket, cascading over a shelf edge, or climbing a moss pole where the leaves gradually grow larger and the silver markings become more pronounced.
🌿 Fun Facts
The silver markings on Scindapsus leaves are caused by air pockets just beneath the leaf surface that reflect light differently than the surrounding green tissue — creating that distinctive satin shimmer that gives the plant its common name.
Despite being called Satin Pothos or Silver Pothos, Scindapsus pictus is not a true Pothos at all — it belongs to a separate genus. The confusion comes from their similar vining habit and care requirements, but Scindapsus has a distinctly velvety leaf texture that Pothos lacks.
The name pictus means painted in Latin — a perfect description of the irregular, artistic silver markings that make every leaf look like it was touched by a brush.
💡 Pro Tips
Light: Bright indirect light brings out the crispest, most vivid silver markings. It handles lower light well but the shimmer is less pronounced in dim conditions.
Water: Allow the top 2 inches of soil to dry between waterings. It's more sensitive to overwatering than Golden Pothos — good drainage is essential.
Humidity: Prefers moderate to high humidity for the most lush growth, but adapts to average household conditions well.
Climbing: A moss pole encourages larger leaves and more dramatic silver coverage as it matures.
Fertilizer: Feed monthly in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer at half strength.
Important: Scindapsus are toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of children and animals.
Perfect for: Hanging baskets, shelves, moss poles, and anyone looking for a velvety, silver-splashed vining houseplant with a softer, more tactile beauty than standard Pothos.

Alocasia Variegated Frydek Brandie Perry
The plant did not arrive in great shape. However, it was an alocasia and I did not add insulation so this is not on the seller (and we all know alocasia does not travel well anddddd they come back)
From start to finish the transaction was amazing. They gave me a discount for my next order even though I didn't ask for one because I knew the risks, and they continued to answer my questions and help me! Will def order again from them and would encourage others to as well!
