The Philodendron Silver Sword is one of the most architecturally striking houseplants you can buy online. Its elongated, blade-shaped leaves have a distinctive metallic silver-blue sheen that catches the light like no other Philodendron — almost iridescent, almost otherworldly. A fast-growing climber that gets more impressive with age, it's the kind of plant that starts conversations and earns its spot in any serious collection.
Fun fact: The Silver Sword is Philodendron hastatum, a species native to the Atlantic Forest of Brazil — and it's actually considered endangered in the wild due to habitat loss. The juvenile form (what you typically see for sale) has those iconic silver, arrow-shaped leaves. As the plant matures and climbs, the leaves transform dramatically: they become larger, darker green, and develop deep lobes — looking almost like a completely different plant. Give it a moss pole and time, and you'll witness one of the most remarkable metamorphoses in the Philodendron family.
Care Guide
Light: Bright, indirect light is ideal — it keeps growth vigorous and the silver sheen most pronounced. Too little light results in leggy growth and smaller leaves. Direct sun scorches the leaves. An east or west-facing window works beautifully.
Watering: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. This plant is more forgiving of underwatering than overwatering — soggy soil leads to root rot quickly. Always use a pot with drainage holes.
Humidity: Prefers high humidity above 60%. A humidifier nearby makes a real difference in leaf size and overall vigor. It adapts to average household levels but truly thrives with more moisture in the air.
Temperature: Ideal range is 65°F–85°F (18°C–29°C). Keep away from cold drafts, AC vents, and anything below 55°F.
Soil: Use a chunky, well-draining aroid mix — potting soil with perlite and orchid bark is ideal. Good drainage is non-negotiable.
Fertilizer: Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength. Skip in fall and winter.
Support: Give it a moss pole — this is a climber, and climbing is what triggers the dramatic leaf transformation into the mature, lobed form. The bigger it climbs, the more spectacular it becomes.
Pro Tip: The Silver Sword is one of those plants where patience pays off enormously. The juvenile silver leaves are beautiful on their own, but the mature lobed leaves that develop as it climbs are on another level entirely. Invest in a tall moss pole early and let it run.
Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.

Alocasia Variegated Frydek Brandie Perry
The plant did not arrive in great shape. However, it was an alocasia and I did not add insulation so this is not on the seller (and we all know alocasia does not travel well anddddd they come back)
From start to finish the transaction was amazing. They gave me a discount for my next order even though I didn't ask for one because I knew the risks, and they continued to answer my questions and help me! Will def order again from them and would encourage others to as well!
