There's nothing quite like watching a Philodendron Florida Ghost push out a new leaf. It emerges almost pure white — ghostly, luminous, almost unreal — and slowly deepens through cream, pale yellow, and eventually rich green as it matures. Every new leaf is a small event. If you've been searching for a collector aroid that genuinely stops people in their tracks, this is it.
Fun fact: The Florida Ghost is a cultivar of Philodendron pedatum, a species native to the rainforests of Central and South America. The dramatic white coloration in new leaves is caused by a lack of chlorophyll during early development — the plant hasn't yet produced the green pigment it needs. As the leaf matures and begins photosynthesizing, it gradually greens up. The brighter the indirect light, the more pronounced and long-lasting that ghostly white phase tends to be.
Care Guide
Light: Bright, indirect light is essential — this is what keeps new leaves emerging white rather than green. Too little light and the ghost effect fades; the plant will push out green leaves instead. Avoid direct sun, which scorches the leaves.
Watering: Allow the top 1–2 inches of soil to dry out between waterings. Overwatering is the number one cause of loss with this plant — soggy soil leads to root rot fast. Always use a pot with drainage holes.
Humidity: Prefers high humidity — ideally 60–80%. A humidifier nearby makes a noticeable difference in leaf size and the duration of the white phase. Misting works in a pinch.
Temperature: Thrives in 65°F–80°F (18°C–27°C). Keep away from cold drafts, AC vents, and anything below 55°F.
Soil: Use a chunky, fast-draining aroid mix — potting soil cut with perlite and orchid bark is ideal. Good drainage is non-negotiable.
Fertilizer: Feed every 4–6 weeks during spring and summer with a balanced liquid houseplant fertilizer at half strength. Skip in fall and winter.
Support: This is a climber — give it a moss pole or trellis and it will reward you with larger, more dramatic leaves over time.
Propagation: Easily propagated via stem cuttings with a node. Root in water or damp sphagnum moss.
Troubleshooting
New leaves emerging green: Not enough light — move it closer to a bright window to restore the white phase.
Yellow leaves: Almost always overwatering or root rot — let the soil dry out more and check the roots.
Pests: Check regularly for spider mites, mealybugs, and aphids. Treat with neem oil or insecticidal soap at the first sign.
Pro Tip: The Florida Ghost is one of those plants that rewards attentive care. Nail the light and humidity, and you'll be treated to a near-constant stream of those stunning white new leaves. Let conditions slip and it quietly goes green on you — a gentle reminder to check in.
Toxicity: Toxic to pets and humans if ingested. Keep out of reach of pets and children.

Alocasia Variegated Frydek Brandie Perry
The plant did not arrive in great shape. However, it was an alocasia and I did not add insulation so this is not on the seller (and we all know alocasia does not travel well anddddd they come back)
From start to finish the transaction was amazing. They gave me a discount for my next order even though I didn't ask for one because I knew the risks, and they continued to answer my questions and help me! Will def order again from them and would encourage others to as well!
