  • Botanical Name: Monstera adansonii
  • Common Name(s): Adanson's monstera, Swiss cheese vine, five holes plant
  • Description: The Swiss Cheese plant, gets its name from its large, heart-shaped leaves, which become covered with holes that resemble swiss cheese as it gets older. Part of the Araceae family that's native to South and Central America, this Monstera is easy to grow and loves to climb and grow upwards.

Light: Prefers bright, indirect sunlight to develop holes (fenestrations). Direct sun can burn leaves; shade causes slow growth.
Water: Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Keep the soil slightly moist but never waterlogged to avoid root rot.
Humidity: Thrives in 50% or higher humidity. Mist often, use a pebble tray, or place near a humidifier.
Soil: A well-draining potting mix is essential; a mix of potting soil, perlite, and orchid bark is ideal.
Temperature: Thrives in 68-86F (20-30C)  Avoid temperatures below 50F(10C)

Fertilizer: Apply a balanced, water-soluble fertilizer monthly during the growing season (spring/summer).
Support Pruning  : Use a moss pole for climbing, and prune leggy vines to encourage bushiness
